Buds of Mae
Buds of Mae is a floral inspired motif. It is a heavily textured design with ruffled bobbles and popcorns, combined with front and back post stitches to create interesting twists and surprises. Buds of Mae is an complex level pattern that requires focus, concentration and counting.
Materials needed: Buds of Mae was designed using 8 ply/DK weight yarn in 2 colours. My sample was made in Makr Cotton and a 4mm hook. My motifs measured 24cm square.
The centre colour (CC) for rounds 1- 10 used 72 m per motif. The outer colour (OC) for rounds 11-12 used 18 m per motif.
Total meterage for each motif is 90m plus 1.25m extra for joining each side, but that will vary depending on yarn, yarn weight, hook size and crochet technique. I used 400m for the border the amount needed will vary. The total amount used for my blanket was 2100m (800 of that was OC and border) and it measures 110cm square.
You can use any weight yarn you would like meterage will vary.
3 to 3.5mm-4ply
4 to 4.5mm-8ply
Or the hook size you usually use for the weight of yarn chosen
Gauge: there is no gauge for Buds of Mae, use the hook you are most comfortable using for the yarn.
